Fun in Carlsbad

August 9th, 2012

surfing on a beach in CarlsbadEditor’s Note: Coast and County Homes, a real estate broker in Carlsbad, Encinitas and Oceanside has over 20 years experience serving the residents of Carlsbad, supplied us with great activities to explore when visiting Carlsbad.

Located in the North County of San Diego, Carlsbad is frequented by San Diego locals and tourists alike because of its lovely beaches, shopping and attractions. Carlsbad certainly has no shortage of activities, from kayaking, surfing, dining and biking. San Diego’s fabulous weather makes Carlsbad that much more attractive because there are so many outdoor activities to choose from. Here are some of our favorites:

Kayaking in Carlsbad Lagoon. Carlsbad Lagoon offers a variety of aquatic activities not limited to, but including jet skiing, paddle boating, fishing and kayaking. The Lagoon offers views of Carlsbad you can’t find anywhere else, and is a great way to spend the day being active and spending time with friends and family. If you go during high tide, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the Bat Ray breeding grounds or see some jumping fish. All in a day’s work!

Getting in touch with your childhood dreams at Legoland. Also a popular destination for children of every age, is Legoland, which celebrates your favorite childhood toy. Kids will be entertained by the rides and other attractions, and parents will be pleased with the fact that their children are entertained. Actually, though many parents accompany their kids to Legoland not expecting to enjoy it, they are often just as happy as their kids. Legoland also offers interesting structures made entirely of Legos, including an entire Star Wars exhibit.

Going for a spin on rented beach cruisers. Aside from strolling or running along the beach, another great way to experience it is by renting a beach cruiser. The entire San Diego area has excellent bike paths along its beaches, so you could easily cover a lot of ground in a few hours. After your legs have had enough, be sure to stop in to Boxd for a waffle sandwich.

Dropping by Boxd for a waffle sandwich. Brand new to Carlsbad is an innovative new restaurant that is made from a recycled shipping crate and opens using hydraulics that run on vegetable oil. Located on a lot on the corner of Carlsbad Village Drive and State Street, this small but bustling joint serves up waffles sandwiches day and night.  If you are thirsty, you can also purchase beer or wine and hang out indoors or on the grass outside. Boxd is a fun place to stop for lunch or a snack between beach sits.

Stopping at The Compass for a beer. When your active and/or relaxing day is over, you may want to finish it off right with a beer or cocktail.  If you are looking for a hip place to enjoy a cold beer with your friends, we love the atmosphere at The Compass. In addition to serving an assortment of craft beers, The Compass serves up some tasty gastropub fare.

There is a reason so many people vacation and live near Carlsbad, and after spending a day there, we are sure you will see why.
